Explosions only happen at the final hit. PT makes them funky or sometimes cause explosions to not even go off if you shoot the floor. Bows. Most have more than enough innate PT and Vile Acceleration gives more fire rate for less capacity. The charge mechanic takes getting used to, and while you can run basic Speed Trigger for +60% fire rate, you're really wanting either Primed Shred for 55% fire rate + 2.2m punch through, Vigilate Fervor's +45% fire rate and better criticals, or Vile Acceleration's +90% fire rate and -10% damage, with the latter being my favorite. I only think some of my rifles would benefit from Primed Shred. Yeah, Fury is more often slotted compared to Shred and it's rare not to have it as an essential mod like stat sticks (like Venka P + Atlas) and Berserk builds.
